Like an hour before, it was giving me its typical "I can't play from Spotify music on this device" lame excuse. I'm just so happy my Fire HD 8 was even willing to play Spotify at all - it completely surprised me. 😥 About half the time I ask Alexa to do anything, she responds with some sentence or statement that has absolutely nothing to do with anything anyone is talking about, or will stumble on her own words that she said as if I had said them, or will just say, "Sorry, I do not see the device insert random name of random lamp or light switch from somewhere in the house that DOES exist because she just picked it in Richard's profile" when I've simply asked her what time it is. You can also of course ask her to play on an Echo device from your Fire HD tablet and she'll do that, but she reuses to play Spotify on any HD Fire tablet other than the one you are speaking to her on 😭😏 I'm sad to say my excitement has been greatly reduced upon finding that while, yes, Alexa will now indeed play Spotify upon voice request on a Fire HD tablet running the latest OS update, but if you ask her to continue playing spotify on a different Fire HD tablet (also running the latest OS update) she says "I cannot play Spotify on that device," which is just a total lie. I don't think we'll ever be able to do so however. Now if they'll just let us choose from the same wake word choices that are available on our Echo devices (it's really frustrating interacting with Alexa around the house and having to remember to address her as "Alexa" in some rooms and "Computer" in others), and if they'll let us add the "Show Mode" fire tablets to multi-room music groups. We've known from the recent release of the "Show Mode" charging docks for HD 8 and 10 that Spotify playback via Alexa voice request support would be "coming soon," and I'm happy to say I just asked Alexa on my HD 8 to play a song on Spotify and she happily did so! I apologize if this is already known by everyone.
